Happy 4th of July....

June 30th....Had a great German dinner with the Haaf's and McDonough's...thank you! Gorgeous evening and great company.

July 1st..Haaf's left today, happy sailing.
McDonough's and Hall's decided to stay the day at Waiatt Bay and just relax...or so we thought...things got a little stinky!!! The macerater pump decided to pack it in...but good old Harvey had  a brand new shiny one on board just waiting to come out of it's shrink wrap....way to go Harv!!!!!!! So, after a few hours of Harvey squeezing into a very small space and a thorough boat cleansing we were finally ready to relax. Enjoyed clam chowder on Mary's boat that evening and discussed our next day's departure heading toward the Johnstone Straight.
Toasted our 1 year anniversary...can I change him in on a new model I wonder.......no way he is a keeper!!!!

July 2nd...6:00am departure from Waiatt Bay heading to Shoal Bay. Saw Allan and Anna in Waiatt Bay just as we were leaving...tried radioing but no answer...probably still sleeping...
Came across Marsha on Resolute....a 26 ft sailboat...she was single handing from the states!!! Marsha followed both boats through the Yaculta Rapids (Gillard and Dent) and then onto Shoal Bay.
Shoal Bay once had 3 active gold mines with a lot of people coming and going. Today, there are three buildings one of them a pub.... Shower and laundry facilities along with a great stone oven and pig barbeque pit. August there is a music festival.....a very beautiful spot and  one that we will need to stop at again.
Once in a while we find our selves saying "we will stop by on our way back", then we realize we are not returning this way...weird feeling!!!!!

July 3rd...continue traveling up Cordero Channel , Chancellor Channel and Wellbore Channel into Forward Harbour. Went through Greene Point Rapids and Whirlpool Rapids...un eventful!!!!
A bit lumpy on Chancellor Channel but calm coming into Forward Harbour. Very few boats in the Harbour makes anchoring a lot easier😀
Dropped anchor and took Skye and Sailor to shore...dogs having a great time...a couple came by and told us that a lame grizzly had also been enjoying the beach for the last few days....well Barb was out of there like a shot...not sure who got into the dingy first Barb or the dogs!!! Now we are on Grizzly alert.
Yeah, we have Internet connection...sort of...
A bit worried about the winds on the Straight they have been calling for gale force winds for the last couple of days😱
Enjoyed a great evening...Rick made very scrum delicious corn tortillas to go along with the halibut...we have to stop eating such gourmet meals...okay maybe not!
The plan is to leave tomorrow at 4:45 am to avoid the winds on the straight..good night!

July 4th...happy 4th of July Jim and Peg....
well first off Harvey and Barb slept in...we were awake at 3:00 and then promptly fell back to sleep and did not hear the alarm...Rick had to knock on the hull to wake us up...I think we are going to enjoy sleeping in our retirement...
Listened to the radio and they were calling for gale force winds again for the pm but it was already blowing at 25 knots so we decided to stay and maybe catch a glimpse of the grizzly!!! One sail boat ventured out around 5:00 am but about 20 minutes later came back in...way to windy!
So, here we sit waiting to see what tomorrow brings...life is good...and I am now up to date with the blog
